Dementia Awareness

INTRODUCTION:

This is an extremely rewarding course for anyone looking to increase knowledge and awareness of the issues facing those living with dementia. Recognizing the early signs and contributing factors is crucial in identifying an individual's unique care need and providing the appropriate level of care.

This is an excellent and challenging training course for all care staff.

COURSE OUTLINE:

  • Definitions of Dementia and misconceptions
  • Types of dementia
  • Risk assessment and signs of agitation
  • Person centred approach and working positively
  • Conflict resolution and anger management
  • Managing challenging behaviours
  • Attitudes and approaches of care workers
  • Safeguarding others and the environment
  • Causes and contributing factors
  • Calm and the impact of calm approaches

COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

Appropriate clothing/footwear must be worn for practical sessions (see below)

  • full covered flat shoe
  • Clothing should be easy to move about in

Anyone who attends and is not wearing suitable Footwear and clothing will not be allowed to participate in the training session

All students must provide their own writing material and paper

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF BOOKING:

We aim to provide a flexible approach to training for our customers, please read our booking terms & conditions detailed below.

  • Students that fail to attend a course will be invoiced at the full course rate
  • Cancellations giving 7 days notice from date of training, no charge
  • Cancellations giving less than 7 days notice, full course fees charged
  • Cancellations on the day or none attendance on the day a re-booking fee of £25 charged
  • Discounts are only applicable if invoice is paid in full within 30 days of invoicing
  • Students arriving 30 mins after course commencement will be classed as a non attendance and re-booking fee will apply
  • Invoices paid within 30 days
