Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTTLS)
INTRODUCTION:
Aims
This course aims to provide an awareness of the key principles and practice of teaching, training and learning. Learners will have the opportunity to develop appropriate training skills and classroom practice.
COURSE OUTLINE:
At the end of the course learners will:
- Understand their role and responsibilities and their boundaries in relation to teaching
- Understand appropriate teaching and learning approaches in their specialist areas
- Demonstrate session planning skills
- Understand how to deliver inclusive sessions which motivate learners
- Be able to use different assessment methods and the need for record keeping
There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification; however, the candidates should be occupationally competent in the subject areas they are going to be teaching in or hold a qualification in the subject area. there is also a considerable amount of written work to be completed. This will involve:
- Reading of the appropriate reference books
- Researching specific topics
- Applying theory to practical scenarios and demonstrating knowledge and understanding through written work
- Word processing all assignments
Therefore, candidates for this course should have a good standard of written and verbal communications skills, and the ability to word process.
